Lead in Vitamins?

Lead, a toxic metal, is known to be a brain damager and growth inhibitor, which is why it comes as a surprise to the FDA when it found that trace amounts of lead are found in most multivitamins in the market.

However, there is no reason to panic, according to the FDA, because the amount of lead discovered is negligible and manageable. Question: how did lead come there?
